Meet the Doctor

boys_photo.jpgDr. Thomas Myers is a licensed Chiropractor serving the New Tampa and Lutz community. As a Chiropractor with experience, Dr. Myers is committed to promoting optimal health and well being of  patients.

Dr. Myers uses a "whole person approach". This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, Dr. Myers is able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to good health.

Dr. Thomas Myers graduated from Olivet College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science and a concentration in Athletic Training.

In 1993, while working as a Physical Therapist Aid and covering area high schools, he obtained his Athletic Trainers' Certification with well over 5000 hours of on-field experience.

He moved to Northern Illinois University to work on his Masters' Degree in Health Education, while acting as a Graduate Assistant responsible for the clinical portion of the Student Athletic Trainers' clinical training.

In 1994 he returned to work in a physical therapy center as a Licensed Athletic Trainer in St. Petersburg, Florida and began covering athletics in area high schools, colleges, Little League, and semi-professional sports.

DSC01867_1.JPGEight years of observing the medical process of injury treatment, consistently following the pattern of medication, physical therapy, and finally surgery.  He became frustrated with this repetitive approach, to treating symptoms, and never addressing the cause, or even asking the question of what is causing these symptoms.  This was when he made the decision to continue his education in 1997 in a field which would address the cause.

In 2001 he graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas Texas, and without speaking a word of Spanish, he and his wife of 1 year moved to Lima, Peru where they lived for the next 5 ˝ years.  Some of his patients consisted of the Vice-President of Peru, former Miss Peru, TV and radio personalities, professional and world class athletes, international qualifying tri-athletes, and congressmen.

While in Lima, Dr. Tom began his career working at a clinic where he remained for 1 ˝ years.  Following the completion of his contract, he and his wife went on to have their first child and open their own office.  Following 2 years of work and the birth of their second son, the second office was opened in a lower economic area to help the lesser privileged Peruvians.  The next 3 ˝ years were spent working in 2 offices, while holding bi-weekly lectures in Spanish, bi-monthly articles in a health newspaper, weekly Spanish radio and TV shows, lectures at the Health Ministry, and frequent community outreach services.  They also created a charity outreach program which provided shoes for thousands of the nation's poorest children. josh_and_mom.jpg

In 2002, Dr. Tom began returning to the United States to take additional courses in a technique which has been proven to have incredible results with scoliosis and the correction of many spinal ailments.

In 2006 they returned to Tampa, Florida when Dr. Tom began working with a world-renown chiropractor, two-time New York Times best-selling author, and two-time U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team physician.   After one year of working with him, and following the birth of their third son, Dr. Tom has opened his state-of-the-art office in the well known Seven-Oaks community of New Tampa, where he has combined his vast knowledge of spinal correction with his extensive knowledge of diet and nutrition, exercise programs, stress and time management to you.
